I love to quilt, but with other responsibilities, I don't always have or take the time to work on my passion. Yet, with a blended family of twelve children and the fourteenth grandchild on the way, there is a never-ending need for quilts.
Weekend Quilting Wonders is published in hardcover for DRG book club members and a soft cover edition will be sold in bookstores and retail outlets.
Weekend Quilting Wonders offers 40 quilt designs that are lovely to look at and easy to make. Most of the quilts (with pre-planning) can be made in a weekend. There are large quilts, baby quilts, table runners, Christmas stockings, gift bags, totes and more.
The instructions are clear and the patterns are easy to follow. Included are quilt-making guidelines that will contribute to easy sewing, even for beginners.
I have a large 'stash' of fabric and have chosen the patterns that I will make for the newest members of our family and perhaps one of the adult children.
Since I believe you can never have too much color, I'm starting with the Dragonfly Baby Quilt. I'll use bold, bright primary colors and machine applique the dragonflies.
There are a lot of golfers in my family and Quilter's Delight is my choice to use up all the left over golf fabric (I made my husband a golf quilt and it is the envy of all of our golfing children).
Several granddaughters' will love Little Miss Toy Tote. The skill level is for a beginner. The instructions indicate it's going to be a breeze to sew. I think I see some wonderful Christmas presents in my little princesses' future.
Weekend Quilting Wonders has so many wonderful patterns that I could use this book for years without ever repeating a pattern. However, some I know I'll use again and again. They're easy and will make me look good. But more importantly, I have some grand gifts that I can make from my hands and give from my heart.
