Charles Foster specializes in medical law and research in England, along with undertaking global expeditions that would make Indiana Jones blanch. Not only has he tracked the Ark of the Covenant, but searched out everything there is to be found about Christ’s birth and all the evidence for and against the event of Christ’s resurrection.
Tracking the Ark of the Covenant is a refreshingly objective, honest, and open foray into faith and myth that hopes only to find the truth, while adopting a stance of faith. This book demonstrates that both are possible–and it is brilliant in doing so.
The style of prose is captivating and the illustrations for each chapter are magic. The photographs and other illustrations in the center of the work are as captivating as its objectivity and the history that the book uncovers. Author Foster understands biblical history, chronological and documented history, and the whim and wise of archeology all at once.
The grueling trek of thousands of miles through desert, oasis and an assortment of limbos on earth are presented in the text with a biting humor that does not rankle. It is thought provoking and vulnerable as well as astute. With this humor and an open mind, Foster asks if there even was an Ark and what are all the possibilities for its whereabouts. He related the ethnic cleansing demanded by the Ark in the Old Testament with a clarity that is shuddering to witness. The Ark must exist in light of the evidence and it is not to be taken lightly. It is also, perhaps, to be left alone where it is, unfound, until it is ready.
Tracking the Ark takes the author through Egypt, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Ethiopia, Ireland, and finally to England’s Coventry, where he does not think the Ark really lies resting. All kinds of people are examined in the tracking, including the Knights Templar, Indiana Jones, Montague Parker, and the questionably equipped Ron Wyatt.
Armchair Interviews says: Could be a study guide for the Old Testament. Readers from middle school through adult can enjoy this superb volume.
