What would be a special reminder of the years spent together in school? For her eighth grade graduation, Kirsten Femson took to heart Proverbs 4:7 "Wisdom is supreme; therefore, get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding," and decided to ask for stories and thoughts on wisdom from others.
Femson wrote letters to over two hundred well-known leaders, friends and family members, asking them to share their personal words of wisdom and inspiration for her and her schoolmates. After the letters were sent, she waited. Before long, letters began arriving with responses from the business, entertainment personalities, celebrities, sports leaders, pastors, friends and family members. The responses were compiled and the book The Way They Should Go: Timeless Advice for the Teen Journey was born.
Contributors such as Dr. Tony Campolo, Charles Colson, Dr. James Dobson, Femson's grandmothers, teachers and friends took time from their lives and offered up sound and practical advice for teens.
Dr. Michael Green, author and broadcaster summed things up for this reviewer. He said, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." He admits that the words may not be cool and could even be considered old-fashioned but they are true and nothing compares to putting God in the center of one's life.
Armchair Interviews says: Femson's book is a wonderful gift for any teen in your life. It is filled with wise, thoughtful and honest truths.
