When a book's plush cover "feels good," even before you read the first word, that makes for a great gift book.
The Station is an analogy for reaching a certain "perfect" point in our lives--where we are all waiting for something: graduation, marriage, promotion, retirement--then, "I'll live happily ever after!"
Before we reach that station, the author encourages us to climb more mountains, eat more ice cream--and watch more sunsets. Oh, and laugh more, cry less.
The message is: relish the moment. You'll reach that "station" soon enough. The author's in-your-face reminder comes from Psalm 118-24: "This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
The illustrations by Marilyn Brown are dessert for the eyes; every page is beautifully designed. The words, pictures and other imagery all complement each other to give that overall "wow" feeling.
