This well-crafted Christian sci-fi fantasy is written from the first-person viewpoint of housewife and mother of four, Susan Mitchell of Ridgeview Drive, suburbia. Dealing with emotional burn out, Susan escapes to her newly completed attic retreat, fashion by her husband of twenty years. Her plan is to use the quiet solitude to search the scriptures for answers to restore her flagging soul, and instead, is sucked through a portal into another dimension.

From soccer mom to Restorer is a huge stretch for someone in denial--and Susan will take a lot of convincing to prove she's not in the throes of an emotional breakdown--in order to complete her assignment and find her way back home.

From the first page to the last you will be sucked into this alternate dimension along with its strong spiritual message that will encourage you to draw on the Lord for strength and guidance when being thrust into everyday situations that make you feel lost and abandoned.

Sharon Hinck did a good job of weaving scriptures and the struggle between good and evil into the story without becoming preachy. Her vivid descriptions of the clans, the lifestyles, scenery and the action gives you a certain feeling of kinship and concern for this fictional place and its people.

Warning: I don't recommend starting The Restorer unless you have set aside some time to read. I began the over 400 pages with the intentions of reading a chapter or two here and there but ended up completing it in two settings.

If you want a safe but breathless adventure to a place you've never been, then I highly recommend, The Restorer.

Armchair Interviews says: This is a 5-star read.
