In this audio book, read by the author, Robert Sutton, discusses an issue that will affect all working people at one time or another in their lives--working with bullies and "assholes". Anyone who has ever felt demoralized, bullied or put down by a work colleague or boss will identify with the situations that Sutton describes, and realize that they are not the only ones going through these problems.
Sutton gives a number of excellent tips and techniques in how to best deal with these "assholes," while maintaining your own dignity and respect and not "stooping to their level."
Sutton's advice also helps managers increase productivity by getting rid of--or perhaps avoid hiring problem employees in the first place.
Illustrated with a number of vivid and sometimes funny examples on Sutton's own encounters with "assholes," and examples which have been related to him, The No Asshole Rule is an insight into how the negative behavior of one or two employees can effect an entire staff, and explains how not to let it.
I have to say, I have tried out one or two of them myself in the past week or so with some aggressive people whom I have encountered in my job, and they have worked!!
Robert I. Sutton is Professor of Management Science and Engineering in the Stanford Engineering School, where he is Co-Director of the Center for Work, Technology.
Armchair Interviews says: And who among us hasn't had this happen to us--and can benefit from this expert advice by "a professional jerk buster" (as Sutton was called on The Today Show).
