Someone once said that when it comes to money, we are all the same religion. This may also be true of time. In The Genesis Plan: 7 Proven Principles for Spending Your Time Wisely, writer Susie Case presents Genesis and the creation of the world as an example of how to get control of our lives.

We are lucky to benefit from the wisdom of this Harvard-educated, Wall Street whiz and inspirational speaker. Case uses Bible passages to pave a way for us to whittle away the irrelevant and bypass the insignificant. We are taught to un-clutter our worlds, set priorities, take better care of ourselves and do the most important things first, including dreaming. She encourages us to dig into our hearts and spirits looking for what makes each of our lives truly meaningful.

Case points to the example of Michelangelo's David and says that Michelangelo chipped away anything that wasn't David. She encourages us to be honest with our priorities. She even goes as far as suggesting having a friend list our priorities based upon our actions. Talking on our cell phones and endless shopping would undoubtedly end up on the top of more than one list.

This book is well constructed, in a useful spiral notebook format. It has worksheets for a plan to remind us where we want to be. Compared to creating the heavens, managing to load the dishwasher and organize our closets, takes on a whole new perspective. It also gives us hope that once we simplify our lives that we can find more meaning too.

Armchair Interviews says this one is an inspirational must. So, quit competing for the highest credit bill and turn off TV reruns, read this book and start chipping away and discover the real you.

From our armchair to yours...
