When a young boy and a dragonfly meet the result is peace–a peace that is desired after the loss of a loved one. But the meeting of the dragonfly and the boy might be thought of as impossible. But maybe it isn’t after all. Maybe nothing is impossible if there is faith and hope.

Lea the Dragonfly is in the garden playing with a butterfly when a young boy enters. They play together and he asks her to help him with a three-part secret. First Lea is to find a baseball cap. But what are the other two parts of the secret? Part two is answered when Lea meets an elderly couple and they ask her to find a bear. The third part of the secret is waiting for you when you read The Dragonfly Secret. And who are the elderly couple and the boy? That’s half of the mystery of reading the book.

The Dragonfly Secret is a touching story that will be a gift to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. It’s the realization that a loved one is remembered by us forever and ever in different ways. It will give hope to those that grieve. The illustrations are beautiful, warm and inviting and add greatly to the story.

If you’ve lost a loved one, Dragonfly Secret is a wonderful way to explain that loss to children and it wouldn’t hurt adults to read it either.

Armchair Interviews says: It’s a book that gives readers a soft place to land in their grieving process.
