For those of you who are Colin P. Davies fans, you no doubt have been waiting for the author’s collection of nineteen fiction stories to find their way into your local book store.
This is my first venture into the author’s unique and often bizarre storytelling genre. Had I not selected to review this book, it is not one I would have sought out. That being said, I found the author’s writing clear, succinct, unusual and colorful.
The author’s imagination leads him to craft stories that take you into futuristic tales that are often deeply troubling, complex, spell binding and perplexing.
In each of his nineteen short stories, the author gives you an insight into characters that in some way seem “human.” Don’t get too complacent as the author often jerks you back, without mercy, into the reality where his characters or woebegone souls are seeking a truth that is close to insanity–or are engaged in a grotesque fantasy.
The title seems innocuous; it lends itself to the image of stories with a warm, cozy fireside focus. Don’t be fooled.
Armchair Interviews says: Davies writes about characters that are too “human.”
