Sewing should be considered an art form, not a craft. It's all about creativity and personal expression. You can take any risks in creating a project and it's "all about you and your sewing." I call that art.
Sew Hip is about sewing fashionable items where you can 'step out' and make them your own. If you're a novice sewer, there is a handy list of supplies you'll need plus some basic definitions. The bonus (for those of us who are visual learners) is a DVD with complete instructions on all the basic techniques needed to complete the projects.
Included in the patterns are clear and concise instructions for making chic belts, snazzy pillows, bags (tote, shoulder, slouch, elegant), and my favorite, a quilt.
Sew Hip is great because novice and experienced sewers will find quick and easy projects to jazz up their wardrobe or freshen their home décor. I've started the quilt and after that I intend to make several belts. I'm saving this book to share with my daughter who is learning to sew. She's going to love it.
Armchair Interviews says: Sew Hip is a keeper.
