Subtitled: 99 Ways for Women to Take Charge at Work
Audio is an excellent way to participate in this book; it's like attending a seminar with the ability to stop the speaker at any point to absorb and take notes. The author is also the reader, adding to the feel of having a personal coaching session, but for pure listening pleasure I'd prefer to listen to someone with a richer, more expressive voice.
The author qualifies leadership as the desire to influence; she challenges women to expand their concept of leadership opportunities and not to cave in to the long-held notion that leadership skills are intrinsically male. She offers hard evidence that women possess different leadership skills, but effective skills as equal to their male counterparts.
Despite the subtitle, the advice in this book is applicable in volunteer work, the corporate world or in the home.
The author has provided downloadable bonus materials on the last CD that include: Self and Entrepreneurial Assessment, Charts, Worksheet Samples, Coaching Effectiveness Inventory, Effective Team Meeting Do's and Don'ts, Team Effectiveness Survey and other Companion Materials. These extras allow you to actively participate while you listen.
I initially listened to the book for concept. Then I went back, using the bonus materials that I downloaded and printed and this time I listened for content. The entire playtime is only 3.5 hours...and well worth every minute whether you desire to influence your family or your coworkers!
Armchair Interviews says: Well worth your time for all that you'll learn.
