I discovered author Cathy Holton recently when I read her third novel, Beach Trip. Her characters and story development touched a place within me and I couldn’t wait to read her other novels. Revenge of the Kudzu Debutantes didn’t disappoint.
Ithaca, Georgia, a town smaller and more intimate than Atlanta, has its own Southern traditions. In some ways it’s a place where not only do people know your name; they know all of your business, good or bad.
Eadie is a strong woman from the wrong side of the tracks who married well. Nita is a homemaker whose life is so boring she’s taken to reading erotic bodice rippers and fantasizes about a young man who works for her family. Lavonne is a Yankee (oh, dear!) who hasn’t had a decent bagel since she left the north, but that doesn’t prevent her from eating everything else within her reach.
The one thing these very three different women have in common is that they love their friendship with each other. They just discovered their husbands had been cheating on them every year for 15 years while on their hunting trip. The women band together to wreck havoc and revenge on the men who have wronged them. The result isn’t pretty but it certainly is funny, heartwarming and will have the reader rooting for the Southern Belles who are able to exact punishment befitting the crimes.
You’ll laugh, you might shed a tear or two, but you will have a good time reading this book!
Armchair Interviews says: Revenge of the Kudzu Debutantes is a laugh-out-loud romp through the lives of women who were wronged and determined to put things right.
