How does a woman get out of an abusive situation and recreate herself with no identification and no money? That is the situation in which Maggie Anderson finds herself after a terrifying carjacking, where oddly enough she was less afraid for her life than she is of returning home to her boyfriend without his car and his liquor.

An interesting series of coincidences lands Maggie halfway across the country in tiny Clayborn, Kansas, where she takes advantage of the opportunity to hide and begin anew.

Widower Trevor Ashlock isn't looking for love and has his own heartbreaking past to overcome, but when this woman, a stranger, crosses his path, he is inclined to reconsider. If only her past doesn't find her and destroy the fragile future they have begun together.

I love Deborah Raney's books. The peaceful love stories always take me home to my small-town Kansas where life just seems easier, even in tribulation. Her characters aren't too-good-to-be-true; they are right-on for the setting. However, she does manage to create enough strife to propel the plot. In fact, I read the book in less than 24 hours, as did my mother-in-law when I placed it in her hands.

You don't have to love Kansas to love Remember to Forget, but you will before you are done with it.
