Subtitled: An Insider’s Guide to Marketing Your Book on the Internet
When I told my writers group about this book, every one of the women wanted to know more—because they are struggling with the marketing part of this publishing business.
So, you’re among the thousands of American who want to write a book—and you finally did it. You might have self-published 1,000 to 5,000 copies and paid out a lot of your hard-earn cash, or used one of the print/publish on demand companies for small quantities.
Now what? How do you let people know about your book, how do you market it?
The Internet—and all that means to authors–is the answer:
- Web site
- Blog
- Podcasting
- Virtual book tours and networking
- Email newsletter
- Keywords/Google
- EBooks
- Amazon
Does this list overwhelm you? In what priority do you do these things? How do you learn how to do it right?
Penny Sansevieri has written a “how-to” manual that she has used to promote her own fiction and non-fiction books—and that of her PR clients.
In her opinion, the Web site is priority. However if the Web site isn’t easy to access and doesn’t let people know how to get your book, you have a store with locked doors.
Red Hot Internet Publicity gives detailed information in each area above, showing you how to develop, reach out to and sell to your niche market (even how to determine YOUR niche market).
Also, the numerous links in each chapter will keep you busy for hours.
If podcasting or blogs were just words before, you will be talking like an expert after reading those chapters. These, along with virtual book tours, were real learning sections for me.
And, Penny has updated whatever has changed or is new, like MySpace and YouTube, since the book was finished. These articles are free on her web site.
An easy-to-read book, because of lists and boxes and general design, you will turn to the book often to answer a specific question. It feels like Internet Marketing 101 (or even the pre-101 class for many of us). And, did you know that a study shows that 75% of media now finds their experts online.
Armchair Interviews says: this is a 5-star action read for any author who knows he must use the Internet, but didn’t know how to start.
