Natalie Moore is an only child. She lives in a cottage in her parents' backyard, works in her father's business, attends the church she grew up in, is best friends with two people she met in eighth grades and has been friends with the boy next door all her life.
At 27 Natalie is diagnosed with a fast-growing breast cancer, and treatment includes a double mastectomy and then chemotherapy.
A girl can get through just about anything with a good sense of humor, a strong faith and dependable friends. Can't she?
What Natalie discovers is that even when you know you are blessed, God has more blessings than you can imagine, but they often come with uninvited circumstances. You have to find the courage through faith to open your eyes to them.
This isn't a Pollyanna perspective of breast cancer, not at all, but the author does take a lighter approach to the topic, using a rhythmic dialog, telling her story with a good dose of humor and a cozy cast of characters.
Armchair Interviews says: Walker takes the scary out of a very scary issue.
