Nostalgia books are high on my list of must-have books. I feel warm and fuzzy when I read them. And I love stories about an earlier time, a time when life was slower, simpler and maybe safer–and I suspect others feel the same. The House of White Birches (DRG) publishes books from the ‘Good Old Days’ and they are my staple for reminiscing about the past.

Our Favorite Pets is the latest Good Old Days publication. This book (complete with pictures) has readers recounting, in first person, all the grand memories of their beloved pets. The true stories (70) about pets and the people who owned them all are from the first half of the 20th century. There are five chapters covering stories about a kid’s best friend, how a pet came to the rescue, dogs and cats, farm friends, and wild animals that are quite friendly.

If you want a blast from the past, a loving look at people and their animal buddies, or maybe, if you’re too young to remember, you might want to take a look at how it was, Our Favorite Pets is the must have book.

Armchair Interviews says: Our Favorite Pets is a keeper. If others want to borrow it, give them a gift or suggest they give themselves a gift.
