Some people pride themselves in knowing more than one language, myself included, but there’s one language that many Americans have a hard time speaking—especially today’s young adults. That’s the language of financial security. Jessie Conners has finally been able to breach the translation belt that most financially successful business writers couldn’t get around the wallets and purses of the money-impaired.
Author Jessie Conners, a former contestant on NBC’s “The Apprentice,” gives an account of the financial difficulties she had to face with her family in her early years. Her family’s American Dream (or as she calls it, American Fantasy) died before she could finish fourth grade. From then on, she had to find her own definition of “the pursuit of the American Dream.” Now Conners has not only redefined the meaning, but has also casually translated the truth behind America’s financial state so that Americans as young as middle-school age can understand the dangers of living an unaffordable lifestyle.
Instead of a “Get Rich Quick” book, Conners lets the reader know immediately that they won’t be partaking in the latest overnight wealth scheme if they read her book. She lays out shocking facts and Internet sources which the public can trace and enhance their understanding of the difference between an earned dollar and an evil piece of borrowed plastic, also known as the credit card. In addition to all her warnings, Conners also introduces other avenues of smart financial planning (CDs, stocks, etc.) that won’t satisfy immediate wants, but secure your unknown future through smart investing.
Forget those credit card ads that promote 0% APR for the first year and then jump up to 20% or higher! It’s nice to finally read a book by a down-to-earth success story. The book is designed with your best interest at heart. Even though Donald Trump fired her, Conners’ intense efforts to educate the American public have earned her a great deal of respect, which is something money can’t buy.
Armchair Interviews says: A gift for yourself and especially any young adult you know.
