Gabe is expecting her new contract from an art gallery, so having a package delivered to her at work isn’t surprising at all. What is surprising is the phone call she receives immediately after, from her mentor, stating that the contracts will arrive on the following day. Curious as to the packages contents, she opens it to find a scroll. Then there is an earthquake–and the appearance of her father’s ghost.
Gabe spent her childhood preparing to be the guardian of the scroll. She chose long ago to deny her heritage and definitely does not want it now! When her long-lost brother shows up and strange men start stalking her, she knows she’s made the right choice to give up her guardianship. If only she could get rid of that pesky ghost!
Will Gabe be able to control her newfound powers? Will she find another guardian for the scroll? Will she ever finish those pesky paintings before the gallery showing?
This is my first foray into Kate Perry and I have to say I’m really impressed. I’ve read a lot of paranormal romance. Some astound the reader while others leave you wondering why you bothered to read it. This book definitely fits in the astounding category. It’s a fresh idea with sexy characters and nonstop action.
The writing is fast-paced and the characters are quick-witted. Kate immediately pulls you into the guardian world and you never want to leave. Mesmerizing as well as entertaining, this is a great read for anyone who enjoys mystery, action, the paranormal, or romance.
The second book in the guardian series, Chosen by Desire, was originally slated for February 2010, but thankfully has been moved up to October 2009. At the end of Marked by Passion, we are blessed with chapter one of the next book!
