DRG publishes some of the best quilting books in the industry. They and their imprints are consistent in all aspects of their craft books. That makes them well worth the money spent. They all will go into your craft library for current and future use.

Lots of Scraps: It’s Time to Quilt is no exception. It is 178 pages that include more than 40 quilt patterns for everything from bed quilts to placemats. It also covers holiday patterns, baby items and provides information for newbies on the finishing of a quilt.

The patterns are easy to follow. Each pattern is accompanied by a photograph (to help us visual learners), project specifications, skill level, cutting instructions, supply list, as well as pattern pieces to copy. It’s all there; nothing is left for the quilter to wonder about.

Since I’m currently thinking about the holidays I was most interested in: The Holly Star Wreath (table quilt) and Pumpkin Patch Visitors (table quilt). The baby quilts are beautiful and I’m making Cute as a Bug Baby Quilt for a new grandchild. It’s a beginner level so it should be a snap. It includes appliqué so the quilter should have knowledge of the skill. I also love the Choo-Choo Baby Quilt and may have to tackle that for a gift. It’s an advanced pattern, but the directions are straight-forward so I think Intermediate level quilters should be able to make this easily.

I love Lots of Scraps: It’s Time to Quilt. My leftover scraps have found a purpose and that thrills me no end.
