This book tells "how to become more successful by getting rid of everything rotten in your life." It's typical self-help fare with a twist. It takes a look at life from the banana perspective, sometimes you have good bananas in your life and sometimes you have rotten ones. The chapters are short and easy to cruise through with great nuggets of information.
Drubin talks about what made up his life, with a Foreword written by his son. Each of the 12 chapters is called "Keys,"--keys to fixing your rotten bananas. Every chapter ends with a list of what you can do to accomplish the key points in the chapter and include great quotes from some of the best minds like Nietzsche. Bananas are equated to things that hold you back from success: happiness, productive friendships, fulfilling relationships and just about anything that gets in the way of you becoming the best person you can be.
Woven throughout the chapters are examples from Drubin's own life and then statements and questions directed at the reader. This is a great book for people who don't like to read lengthy self-help books and who like vignettes about an author's own experiences to put their own lives in perspective.
Armchair Interviews says: A superb, quick read for those looking to improve their bunch of bananas. Advice is succinct and easy to understand and implement in a short amount of time. Much cheaper and more fun than therapy!
