Artist Larkspur Wendell is as fun-loving as her name and she can't bear to see anyone hole themselves up in a corner. So when a new neighbor moves in next door, Lark is horrified to discover Everett Holden is a stick-in-the-mud type person who's taking "hermitness" to the extreme.

Lark orders a talking parrot for a "welcome-to-the-neighborhood" gift, but it is not so politely refused. So, she sends over a box of mothballs to let Everett know he needs to come out of storage. He responds with a judge's gavel, that Lark takes to mean that she's out of order.

Everett requires peace and quiet, but with Larkspur as his neighbor he's not getting anything done. Will Lark be able to draw Everett out of his shell and into true love?

Larkspur Dreams is a fun, lighthearted read with several funny moments. As a whole, the story is well-told, with a strong faith message. Larkspur loves to have fun, and as polar opposites attract, Everett is night to her day. I honestly wonder how she could be so attracted to him, although he did behave in a typical heroic manner.
