Subtitled: Exploring the Chakra/Asana Connection—Accessing the Kundalini for body, mind, and spirit
April Petty is a yoga instructor, teacher of Pilates, water aerobics, belly dancing, ballet for fitness, and creative movement. She is a third-degree Reiki Master and teacher.
Petty believes that the practice of yoga is the key to good health and feeling of peace. Her book is designed for both yoga newcomers and veteran practitioners—and starts with the basics. She reminds you that you can start doing yoga at any stage or age of life—but not to fear you MUST do the positions of other class members. Yoga is done at a personal-skill level.
Definitions:
—Asanases are the yoga positions (Petty depicts with her drawings as she tells you how to do them). These positions are designed to open the chakra points and raise the Kundalini energy.
—Kundalini (your potential energy).
—Chakras are the 7 energy centers that correspond to points along your spine. Each center can help a person tap into different strengths as well as regulate better health and well-being. Health problems can be tracked back to the blockage in a chakra center.
1. The root chakra rests in the base of the spine—the seat of your security and basic instincts.
2. Sacra chakra is located in the center of the belly—the center of your security, creativity and pleasurable experience.
3. Power chakra is located in the center of the torso, below the ribs–the place of creative thought and invention.
4. Heart chakra rests at the center of the chest—emotional center for compassion, trust, forgiveness and kindness.
5. Throat chakra is where communication energy exists—the desire to sing, write, paint or put thought into expression.
6. Brow chakra is located in the center of the forehead—center of spiritual belief and conviction.
7. Crown chakra is at the top of the head and is your connection to the divine—the sixth sense, sense of being, life force, your soul and inner peace.
Bottom line: The stretching and positions of yoga can open different chakras, and IF you know what chakra is blocked, you can see by the above list that it can most certainly cause emotional and physical dysfunction.
Armchair Interviews says: Another way to better health and well-being.
