In Just Do It, Douglas Brown tells how he and his wife decided to try an experiment—having sex for 100 consecutive days (it turned into 101 at the end). They could make no excuses, and nothing could stop them.
During the course of their experiment, they made time for weekends away (including to a Las Vegas pornography convention!), contended with sick children (as well as illnesses they had), and dealt with emotional issues that caused a lack of libido.
This book, however, is about more than sex. It is about the changes that can take place in a relationship when it feels tired and in a rut. It shows that by simply altering and improving one aspect of your life, many others can be affected as well.
This book was a fun journey with Doug and Annie Brown—I even got a few ideas for spicing up my own marriage! The book was funny in many spots, causing me to laugh out loud (which is something I rarely do when reading a book). I enjoyed the candor with which Brown describes the adventure he and his wife take.
The one thing about this book that bothered me was the frequent mentions of his homesickness for Maryland. I felt that after a while it got repetitive and at some points felt more like whining. However, about halfway through the book, the mentions grew fewer. Once I hit this point, I enjoyed the book that much more.
Armchair Interviews says: An interesting experiment in “Turn off TV, turn on each other.”
