Subtitled: And Other Hip Alternatives to Dealing with Reality

This book reads like a comedy routine. Not surprising, since Anita Renfroe is a comedienne who has several DVDs and Women of Faith performances gracing her resume.

With titles like, "If Money Grew on Trees, We'd All Be Staunch Ecologists," "If Love is Blind, That Explains a Lot," and "If All Your Friends Set Fire to their Cubicles, Would You?", author Anita Renfroe discusses women's attitudes toward things like exercise, finances, family and friend relationships, and work situations with successions of up-to-the-minute one-liners and pop-culture references.

The overarching metaphor is redecoration, and I appreciate this overarching message, which is: If you cannot change the situation, change your attitude about the situation.

While I believe that Renfroe's message is sincere and her heart is light and her performances are quite likely hilarious, I didn't find everything in the book funny. It's almost like not quite getting a joke, or the sense that "you had to be there." I wasn't "there," and I haven't seen Renfroe's performances or DVDs, so I didn't enjoy the book as much as someone who is a fan of the author probably would.

Also I would have liked more Scriptural references for a Christian lifestyle book.

Armchair Interviews says: Humor about a woman's every-day life.
