HOT is a novel full of twist and turns. It starts with a bank robbery where you meet Turner Hastings. She is calm and collected, even with Yoda and Spongebob Squarepants waving guns around the bank. You can’t help but laugh as she tries to keep everyone calm and just get the robbers out of the bank. The first twist comes when she robs the bank herself. Unfortunately for her FBI agent John MacKinnon is not one to give up. It is hard not to get drawn in to Turner’s personal mission, and to root for her success. Again the one thing standing in her way is FBI agent John–but is he looking for her professionally or personally. The relationship that develops crosses many lines but makes a great read.

HOT draws you in, and soon I found myself taking turns wishing for Turner to escape–and to finally meet John Mackinnon. The phone calls that occur as he chases her around the small town are both funny, and in some ways, romantic. You can tell as the chase continues that the lines are blurred between emotions and his job. When they finally meet you can all but see the sparks flying off the pages.

This is the first novel by Julie Harper that I have read but I would definitely read more by her. She draws you in and it is hard to put down until you finish. She keeps you guessing what will happen next and you just can’t wait to find out.
