Is there an image that you can picture that symbolizes freedom? Something that says, "safe, secure, free, forgiven, and smiled upon by God?" For Nancy Kennedy that image is of a girl on a swing--totally, utterly rejoiced over and loved, just because of what Jesus has done for us.
Do you feel like a hypocrite? Do you smile to hide your shame? Focus on Jesus; he took your shame as His own. Do you feel you have to earn God's love? You've already lost your chance, so just revel in the fact that He loves you anyway. Hate trusting God with your greatest fears? He'll never leave you nor forsake you, even if your greatest fear comes to pass. Are you struggling with the pride you've cleverly disguised as humility? God knows and He isn't fooled.
As always, with humor and grace, Nancy Kennedy lends a fresh, "real" voice to life's dilemmas and God's answer to them. There is no "how-to" or "I have arrived" in what she has to say, but there is great freedom that we can glean from the pages. Our Father loves us, cares for us, will never leave nor forsake us; we can just swing in his presence. Free.
Nancy Kennedy hits it home with another slightly off-kilter but nonetheless grounded view of the spiritual walk.
Armchair Interviews says: Another interesting approach to God's love.
