After reading Generation Hex by Dillon Burroughs and Marla Alupoaicei, I discovered that there was a great deal that I didn’t know about Wicca. Not only was I short on information, but some of what I thought was true, wasn’t.

Some people estimate that Wicca will be America’s third-largest religion by 2012. It currently is the fastest growing religion in the United States and our young people are attracted to this ‘religion’ and are joining its ranks in ever-growing numbers.

But what is Wicca? Do you know? Wicca is often referred to as ‘the Craft” or “the Craft of the Wise,” and is an earth-based religion/form of witchcraft. Wiccan’s suggest that one can do anything, as long as it does no harm (of course a person doesn’t always know what actually causes harm to another). They do not worship Satan and do not really believe in Satan. But what they do believe contrasts greatly with Christianity.

Generation Hex offers a solid understanding of what Wicca is and isn’t, it lays out the major differences between Wicca and Christianity, offers help in talking about the truth to those who have caught up in the movement and it reminds us to love, even and especially those we do not agree with. The authors provide stories told by witches and former Wicca members that offer some insight into the attraction it holds for young people. Since Wicca is an earth religion, the attraction is greater now with the world’s attention to the environment.

Armchair Interviews says: Generation Hex is a book worth reading for everyone in order to understand a growing religion that is attracting young people and the subtle dangers of Wicca.
