Author Kenny Luck works with Rick Warren at Saddleback Church. His book is very compatible with Warren’s runaway best-seller, The Purpose-Driven Life. Just as Warren’s book starts with a very compelling statement: “It’s not about you,” so does Luck’s: “Are you willing to pick a fight with evil?”
His basic premise is that God’s archenemy, Satan, is engaged in a final battle for planet Earth. His focus is on causing those to fall who stand firmest for what is right and good. The devil wants them to lose their credibility. He wants them to lose their power. If you’re willing to get out of the ring and stay on the sidelines, he’ll ease up. Why? Because he has you where he wants you–out of the game.
In the book, Luck details what awaits those who are willing to stand and fight, and even carry the fight to the evil one. He shares experiences of those that are already doing it. And he constantly affirms that the fight is not something you engage in alone. As a matter of fact the moment you decide you are willing and available, the fight actually becomes God’s – and He will equip and protect, but only as long as we submit and surrender to Him, and place ourselves under His protection.
And that is the Devine paradox. I’m willing to fight, so now God surrounds me, protects me, and equips me–when I’m committed to surrendering and doing it His way. While Luck’s book is written for men (which is his ministry) the book has just as much application for the woman who wants to be God’s woman for her family and community in these times.
Kenny Luck pulls back the curtain and reveals the ways in which Satan attempts to get the believer to quit and stand aside. He emphasized the importance of knowledge of the enemy, as well as the knowledge of God’s plan and weapons for carrying out this fight. This book is a must read for anyone, but especially men, who truly believe that evil wants to engulf the world–and it is only God’s people committed to walking, working, and fighting in God’s way that stand in the gap.
Armchair Interviews says: Luck has authored or co-authored many books.
