What is so important about the resurrection? What does it mean in the life of the believer? The book starts with explaining the need for the resurrection: which is man’s sin and the Father’s desire to redeem fallen man from his sin. But the Resurrection did more than that. It was the beginning of God’s relationship with redeemed man. The book begins by pointing out that the resurrection is the validation that Christ was fully capable of paying the price for man’s sin.
In this book, the Blackabys not only explore the meaning of the resurrection, they also explore the relationship believers have with God as a result of the Resurrection – and the reason why so few believers actually experience the relationship that God intended. Chief among these is that God intended His followers to experience joy. Yet few Christians experience deep joy in their lives.
Jesus said, “I am come that your joy might be full.” Yet there are many Christians who don’t have that joy either showing up on their face or being evident in their lives. The Blackabys then carry the reader through a series of teachings that allow the reader to see exactly what the scriptures have to say about the Resurrection and an uncommon life, as well as the peace, power, hope, joy, and confidence that are available as a result of the Resurrection. Each chapter unlocks more of the living water that every Christian thirsts for as a part of his or her daily experience with God – but that is so often missing.
The key, as they often repeat, is responding to what God has done – rather than doing something to receive something from God. This is a message worth studying and letting soak into one’s mind – it is the essence of grace versus works.
