Dinosailors is a treat for dinosaur and pirate-loving children.
Six different dinosaurs take to the high seas for adventure. Deb Lund’s story moves rhythmically but the rhymes aren’t forced and they add to the fun. Howard Fine’s illustrations capture the adventure the landlubbers feel at first.
They set their course and raise the sails. All goes well until a storm brews. The dinosailors miss solid ground and begin to feel seasick. A full-page spread of the dinosaur’s geyser puking will delight any preschooler who’s had an upset tummy.
The dinosaurs decide they were meant for solid ground and return to shore and their homes and families. The story ends with the dinosaurs preparing for their next adventure on the rails: All Aboard the Dinotrain.
Dinosailors is a fun read that preschoolers will want to enjoy over and over again. It’s an instant bedtime classic.
Armchair Interviews says: Good read.
