In Damnation Street, Andrew Klavan returns to his Weiss and Bishop Series with a mystery about friendship, love, obsession, murder, and morality.

Scott Weiss is a former cop, now a private detective who is on the road searching for a woman who doesn't want to be found. Julie Wyant, a prostitute with ''the face of an angel,'' is running from John Foy a.k.a. The Shadowman.

John Foy is a killer who is obsessed with Julie and won't stop chasing after her. Julie is on the run but makes a mistake by calling Scott Weiss from a payphone in Paradise, California. She calls to tell him to leave her alone and not to search for her. After tracing the call and finding out her whereabouts, Weiss goes on the road to find Julie. The only problem is the sadistic John Foy is following Weiss to lead him to Julie.

Jim Bishop is a good friend of Weiss' and refuses to let him do this search alone. Bishop chases Weiss to try to save him from John Foy before it's too late. During Bishop's journey, he finds himself face to face with the killer and puts his own life in danger to save his friend.

Weiss is an intelligent detective and he follows the trail that Julie has left behind. He questions people who she's made phone calls to and slowly he starts to put her story together. Is Julie just a prostitute with good looks, or is there more to her story? Weiss uncovers Julie's family secrets and suddenly the case takes a sudden turn. Weiss struggles with his conscience to do the right thing and live to tell about it. Will Weiss find Julie and protect her from John Foy or will he unknowingly lead the killer to his prey? Read this thrilling detective story to find out!

DAMNATION STREET is a fictional account of the real Weiss and Bishop. I loved Andrew Klavan's writing. There is never a dull moment between the dangerous fights, dodging bullets, and the secrets that are slowly uncovered.

Armchair Interviews says: This is a fast-paced, white-knuckle thriller, which mystery fans are sure to enjoy.
