Alex Cross had it all. A rising career with the Washington, D.C. police department, a beautiful wife, Maria, whom he loved, kids who adored him. And then Maria took a bullet from an unknown shooter and died in his arms. Life as he knew and loved it, was over. He needed to figure out how to raise his children without their mother, but always just below the surface an equally great need lurked-the need to avenge Maria's death.
Years later, after making changes and fitting pieces of his life back together, Alex sees the future holds a place for him after all. Life is normal, whatever that means, and he might even be ready to love again.
Then his former partner, John Sampson, asks for help on a serial rapist case. The Butcher is brutal and terrifying and stunning in his ruthlessness. And he might be connected to Maria's death.
This audio book is a must-hear. Once I got over my need for controlling the pages of a book, and over the fact that Alex Cross sounded nothing like Morgan Freeman, the story snared me and didn't let go.
Patterson has outdone Patterson with Cross.
Armchair Interviews says: It is a thriller Patterson fans are sure to enjoy.
