Country Lovers is the third novel in the beloved Barleybridge series written by Rebecca Shaw. Country Lovers American release is April 2007, however it was originally released in England.
If you love cozy and British, is a nice, uplifting read for those lazy afternoons. The pace is slow and the view of an English village with its quirky characters is enchanting.
The staff at the Barleybridge Veterinary hospital is back, and they're working hard to keep the animals in their care healthy while navigating the sometimes-bumpy terrain of their personal lives.
Kate is back in this installment and she's still working at the hospital but is concerned about her veterinary school test results. She's come a long way since we first saw her in A Country Affair. She's grown from an indecisive young woman to one determined to make her dream of becoming a veterinarian come true.
The local farmer's daughter has caught the eye of vet Rhodri, but their love is hampered by family obligations. Dan's wife is expecting a baby, Letty is worried about medical issues and the drama of Joy, Mungo and Duncan continues.
Armchair Interviews says: Rebecca Shaw's books are somehow reminiscent of the Miss Read books. Both authors are able to take the simple and mundane and make it interesting.
