When Shay Caldwell's luck goes from barely making it to an overabundance of wealth, her life takes a turn as well. At first she thinks her life can be like it was before with the only difference that she and her daughter no longer have to worry about the paycheck-to-paycheck living.
Shay's friend goes on a vacation to Florida and comes back with small gifts for people at work. The friend brings Shay a lottery ticket as a joke that if she wins, she needs to split it with her. Well, luck as it is, Shay actually wins the lottery. One hundred and twenty seven million dollars' worth. Shay engages the help of a financial advisor and takes a mini vacation, knowing her daughter is heading out with some friends on a ski trip. Before leaving for Antigua, her soon-to-be ex-husband is murdered and she becomes the prime suspect. She is released as prime suspect due to other circumstances that just don't add up.
She meets suave, handsome financier Tom and a whirlwind romance begins. Shay returns to Manhattan to find her daughter has been murdered. This time, she is taking things more seriously about people wanting to kill her. She never dreamed that her winnings would put her life in danger. As to the killer, definite shock--you will have to read to the end to find out what is really going on with Shay and her newfound love, Tom.
I must definitely say the ending was something I never thought of. I didn't even put the clues together until it was revealed to me. Great job on this. This is how a whodunit should be, keeping the reader involved until the end and not revealing who it is until everyone knows.
Armchair Interviews says: Good whodunit.
