Detective Simon Reynolds is about to find himself in a dangerous situation. After being called to investigate the brutal murder of a young girl, Detective Reynolds sets off after the killer. Once a second murder occurs, he realizes that this is no longer just a random killer, but it’s personal. Will the detective figure out the clues in time to save another life? Will his life be the next on the line?
After having read Deadworld, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this book. Dennis Dufour delivered the same fast-paced read, but this time he really captured my attention. As soon as you start reading page one, you’re sucked into the book and can’t put it down until you’ve finished.
Instead of being bogged down by a lot of unnecessary description, Dennis takes you on a roller coaster ride of fun. I have to admit that it was really easy to figure out who the murderer was, but that’s what made it more fun. It was like watching a horror film where you’re constantly yelling at the blonde not to look behind the door where the noises are coming from. You know what’s going to happen. You can see they’re making a deadly mistake. When they go ahead and look behind the door, all you can do is yell at them and say ‘I told you so!’ That’s exactly how this book was for me. I was yelling at the characters and having the time of my life.
I think if the ending hadn’t been so predictable, it wouldn’t have elicited nearly the reaction from me. Given enough time, I think Dennis Dufour could become a great writer in his genre.
I also have to add that having read both of Dennis Dufour’s books, he has the most amazing knack for creating characters. They are so crazy that you don’t doubt for a moment that they’re realistic. They’re fun, creative, and pull you right into their world.
Armchair Interviews says: A good read, well done.
