Firefighter Eddie Gilbert had been involved with a previous rescue of a kidnapped young lady, the prominent Mr. Klein's daughter, on what was supposed to be a vacation. He is being called back to Mr. Klein's to take on more tasks, but then what are supposed to be trial of a job proposal turns into yet another kidnapping of a doctor who is spending time on a remote Caribbean island for an organization similar to the Peace Corps.
Mr. Klein's friend has approached him to help get his daughter back, not knowing what has happened to her. Turns out that the person who had kidnapped the doctor sold her to another man, whom Eddie had already had one run-in with, from the first rescue.
This story didn't have much to drive it forward. I felt that there was no mystery behind the kidnapping nor was the rescue really worth following. There never was a ransom requested and the whole thought of being enslaved by a man who has been able to escape the laws of the United States because he is no longer living there, is really silly.
Since everyone involved, except the father of the girl, knew who had her and where they were, it seemed that the big "fight" scene was inevitable. There wasn't much to really keep my interest in the story, but I did finish it because it read rather quickly.
