September 11, 2001 changed the lives of millions of people forever. Those most closely impacted were the innocent victims, their families and friends, and those who offered help or provided solace.
Lisa Jefferson is the GTE Airfone Supervisor who took the call from Todd Beamer, a passenger who lost his life on United Flight #93. That call impacted Jefferson in ways she could never have expected but learned to embrace as her calling from God. Lisa Jefferson believes that each of us has been given an assignment by God and that He knows what we are capable of doing. She was merely accepting her assignment.
Lisa Jefferson's book, Called, is short and simple and yet is powerful. It is a book to be read for many reasons; to think about the assignment God has for you, to be thankful for your blessings and, I believe, to help ensure that we never forget the day a world had war declared upon it.
We must never forget September 11, 2001 and the thousands of innocent people who lost their lives and the families who lost loved ones. Todd Beamer's battle cry of "let's roll" stirred a world then and reminds us now of the day we were forever changed as a nation.
Armchair Interviews says: Called is an intimate look at a bond forged between strangers that will last forever.
