Blue Springs is a story about redemption that captures the confusion and sadness of shattered innocence and the twisted hatred of mean-spirited men.
A boy's chance meeting of a man nurturing a flame of hope ignites compassion and protection. Peter Rennebohm skillfully weaves several plots together to make a suspense charged novel: a father with a drinking problem, a malicious coin shop proprietor engaging the services of a hit man to secure rare coins, a mean-spirited brute seeking to settle an old score, and an elderly man seeking forgiveness for the past before it is too late.
I was captivated by the richness of Peter's visual prose and couldn't wait to read it at bedtime after I set it down for the day. His portrayal of Charlie Nash as the young boy unknowingly being pursued and the men with evil intentions was spectacular. I loved the references to the streets in Minneapolis during the 50's and the small towns in rural Minnesota.
Peter Rennebohm has definitely made an admirer out of me. I am looking forward to reading his other book, French Creek.
