Kristin van Dijk is now a private investigator working with Otis Millett, the PI who helped her in the first book, Baby Shark. When Otis and Kristin are hired to return a runaway heiress they have dealt with before, they don't expect the job to include a couple of dead bodies and a bag full of money. It doesn't take much to figure out they weren't told everything about this situation.
It seems Sherry Beasley will be very rich very soon, and those who have a stake in the matter are attempting some last-minute changes, leaving Otis and Kristin unsure who they can trust.
Kristin has matured into an even stronger character. A young woman with lethal abilities is continually underestimated in the 1950s, where this series is set--and she doesn't disappoint.
It's possible the body count is even higher in this second book that takes off at full speed and never lets up all the way to the surprising ending.
Armchair Interviews says: Another good read.
