When first asked to review All Will Be Revealed, a historical fiction, I did not know if I was going to like it. Let's face it, a story set in turn of the century New York may be my style, but with a pornographer and a spiritualist as the protagonists, I wasn't so sure if I would enjoy it. But I was more than willing to give it a shot.

At first I just wanted to figure out the characters because they were so different from me. Then I found myself being drawn into the tangled tale and before chapter 16, I was trapped by the web of words--a tale of woe. I was identifying, empathizing and rooting for the characters and staying up all night to finish a book I didn't think I'd like in the first place.

Wheelchair-bound Augustus Auberbach sees himself as a kind of Hugh Hefner or Larry Flint of the turn of the century pornography era with an unfulfilled destiny. One of his models convinces him to attend a seance conducted by Mrs. Swann. Verona Swann is a beautiful widow in search of anything to fill the void when her husband does not come back from an expedition.

They aren't your average Romeo and Juliet. Auberbach prefers to see his world through a camera lens where nothing can touch or hurt him. Mrs. Swann is being pulled further into the spiritualist world by her swindling brother-in-law who swears he has her best interest at heart. But French postcards, parlor tricks, and disgruntled in-laws can't keep these two apart in a very different love story where Siegel proves that we are all human at the core no matter what our outside adornment may be.

Armchair Interviews says: A good read that will pull you in and keep you enthralled.
