Audio Interview: Paul Elwork, author of The Tea House

Elwork, a first-time author, spins a wonderful tale of coming of age of 13-year-old twins. His story is based loosely on a true story of two women in the 19th century who could make noises with their bones (ghost-knocking)–who traveled the country as “curiosities.” Ghosts that Emily, the girl twin, may or may not see and talk to–and those annoying “skeltons” in the family’s closet make for wonderful reading. Dead father, depressed mother, self-sufficient “privileged” kids–Elwork is a good storyteller with attention to detail and characters that you actually care about, especially their secrets–that they will stay in your mind long after the last page. Listen while Paul tells about his ghost-knocking inspiration, and all about his writing life.
