Audio Interview with Arvid Williams, Co-Author of Hawk Historical Fiction Series

Arvid Williams and Bonnie Shallbetter have written three books of historical fiction starting in 1862 in Minnesota.

Book 1 is Hawk’s Valley: A Good Place to Die
Book 2 is Sophie’s Hawk: Spirit of the Raptor
Book 3 is Hawk’s Quest: A Superior Pursuit.

The series focuses on Hawk (19) and brother Jake Owens (17) as they find their way across Minnesota during an Indian uprising and the aftermath. These authors really bring history to life—regardless whether you know Minnesota. They love history and write to get readers interested in their own history as well as that of where they live.

Their books are in the Minnesota Historical Society’s reference library. Listen as Arvid Williams tells how the books came to life and how he and Bonnie work as successful co-authors.
